Mini hydropower

Mini hydropower in Viscose

This WP will demonstrate a 2,7 MW mini hydro power plant, embedded in a dense area, and installed downstream a canal crossing in the Viscose district. Realised with new hydropower technologies, the annual production is estimated to 15 GWh. Because of its urban site involvement, will high environmental concerns and in-site integration be implemented.

All electric cables will be buried. For production, a contract will be co-signed by EDF and the city of Grenoble, which will be the first contract of this kind in France. An information program about the plant and its electricity production will be implemented to teach the residents of the Viscose district about energy saving and environmentally friendly energy resources. In addition an information point about renewable energy will be implemented along the cycle path running by the mini hydro power plant.
