Concerto Projects

CONCERTO is a major new initiative in the context of the European research and technological development by supporting local communities in demonstrating actions that are both sustainable and energy efficient.

Increasing the use of renewable energy sources and promoting energy efficiency is not an easy task. CONCERTO aims to demonstrate the high potential for energy efficiency and high share of renewables which can be achieved through a fully integrated approach in high performing communities. Below are a couple of projects which execute this initiative. More can be found here.

"Action to mainstream efficient building and renewable energy systems at a city level across Europe" has the underlining rational of cities willing to improve the quality of life and adapt their infrastructures to the sustainable energy model ruling the present century.

- Contact Ms. Astrid HOFFMANN-KALLEN

"Combined Rational and Renewable Energy Strategies in Cities, for Existing and New Dwellings to ensure Optimal quality of life", the following are the demonstration cities: Ajaccio (FR), Almere (NL), Milton Keynes (UK), Viladecans (ES)

- Contact Mr. Bart VAN DER REE

is dedicated to working with joint developments in Scandinavia and Spain. The following cities demonstrate the project: Helsingborg (SE), Helsingor (DK), Trondheim (NO), Tudela (ES)

- Contact Mr. Reto M. HUMMELSHØJ

"Energy efficient COmmunity STimulation by use and Integration of Local Energy Resources" is about a coordinated approach for achieving energy efficient communities. The common and essential element of the project involves the use of bio-gas and district heating systems. Supporting cities: Amsterdam New West (NL), London (UK), Måbjerg (DK)

- Contact Mr. Rudy A. ROOTH

aims to demonstrate that a 20-30% reduction in fossil energy consumption and a reduction of CO2 emissions in the building sector can be achieved through the increased use of renewable energy sources, while at the same time enhancing energy efficiency measures: Falkenberg (SE), Neckarsulm (DE), Weiz Gleisdorf (AT), Zlin (CZ)

- Contact Mr. Boris MAHLER

The specific focus is on the large scale urban developments where living and working areas are integrated. This delivers sustainable city quarters with low distance and low transport energy consumption: Cerdanyola (ES), Stuttgart (DE), Torino (IT).

- Contact Ms. Ursula EICKER

Renewable ENergy Acting In SuStainable And Novel Community Enterprises aims to succeed by demonstrating practical solutions to local energy needs: Lombardia (IT), Lyon (FR), Zaragoza (ES).

- Contact Mr. Raphaëlle GAUTHIER

"Optimal balancing of demand and supply through RES in urban areas". The overall objective of the TetraEner project is to optimise the balance of community supply and demand, through the application of energy efficiency (EE) measures and increase in the use of renewable energy sources (RES), combined with adequate storage systems and intelligent management: Geneva (CH), San Sebastian (ES).

- Contact Mr. Enrique MONASTERIO BENARAN
